Are the Falcons for real???

So...Monday Night Football. Falcons vs. Saints. The Falcons simply need a victory next week to clinch home field in the playoffs. So, some might have expected the Falcons to walk into last night's game and give a lackluster effort. But oh, how wrong those people were. The game was a good one. However, the Falcons didn't end up on top. They put up a good fight but still came up short. Will the result be any different in the playoffs? There's a good chance that these two teams will meet again in the NFC championship this year. Atlanta natives would like to believe that the Falcons will live up to the hype that they have created this year and have a shot at a super bowl appearance, but I'm not so sure that would happen. I'd love to see it, but I'm just not sure yet. The Falcons showed they have the team to do it last night. If it were not for a Michael Turner fumble on the one yard line, I'm pretty sure we would have won last night against the reigning super bowl champions. But only time will tell if the Falcons have what it takes to go the distance in the playoffs. It should be interesting, and I'll be on the edge of my seat every step of the way.

Will Verizon's acquisition of the iPhone mean losses for ATT??? Sources say no...

So a lot of people have been anticipating the change. Patiently waiting for the day when the iPhone would move to other networks. From what it looks like, the day is upon us. Consumer Reports recently dubbed ATT as the nation's "worst carrier". So why aren't customers who stayed only because of Apple's exclusivity deal going to flee to Verizon. Well, its not that simple. ATT still does have some perks that Verizon doesn't. Either way...decide for yourself. Check the link below for a more detailed article on at money.com.

New Google Phone

So here's the new Google Nexus S. The latest and greatest in the always expanding Android market. However, scratch that. I don't really think it is the greatest. It doesnt have a micro sd card slot accessible so that you can add and transfer your information easily like you can on the Evo. All in all, its a great phone, and has a front facing camera like the Evo, iPhone4, and G2. But it doesn't do anything new that the Evo hasn't. It does everything the Evo does. But the camera isn't as good (5mp instead of the 8mp camera that the Evo boasts), and it doesn't really do anything spectacular that the Evo doesn't. But for those who are new to Android phones, this is still a great phone and I would definitely recommend it. If I didn't already have an Evo, I wouldn't be so critical. The phone is extremely fast and I'm sure it will be one of the best on the market as it gains popularity. It looks like TMobile will be carrying it and I'm not sure if it can be unlocked for other carriers or not. But here is an article link below for more info on the phone.

Pitchfork top 50

So, Pitchfork just came out with the top 50 albums of 2010. The list will be included below the end of this article. Pitchfork tends to over- and underrate artists from time to time. However, this year's list was collectively accurate and did justice to most of the artists that I would have liked to have seen on it. Regardless of whether or not you agree with the order of the list or not, it has some good music that you may have never heard of that is definitely worth checking out. Ariel Pink and Flying Lotus are a few bands/artists that I have started listening since reading the list.

Cool iPad apps

Ya, I don't celebrate xmas as you may know, but you better believe that Ima be shopping. A lot of my friends have been getting iPads...so here's a link on some cool iPad music apps.

Ipad App List

Saturday, November 27, 2010

So a lot of you are wondering is the iPhone really worth it. I would simply like to say, no! As you are holiday shopping don't believe the Apple hype...well, as far as phones go. I do still want a macbook pro, so I ain't gonna say too much about Apple, but if you've had a previously biased opinion leaning towards the iPhone, I feel that you should reconsider your options. The Android market has grown to be an equal rival to the iPhone Appstore.
The Evo has better features all around. 8mp camera. HD video camera. Front camera with video chat. And an HDMI docking station is now available, which I have posted above. But check it out for yourself. To say android is on the rise is an understatement. The video chat feature may not have caught on yet, but the Evo is definitely the phone to have. I will be copping a docking station ASAP. You can't beat the ability to capture HD video and watdch it on the big screen immediately.

Kanye...need I say more.

So Kanye has done it again. He's back. Not back like 808's and heartbreak back. I mean actually back. If you saw his film with Selita Ebanks, then you have probably been patiently awaiting the release of the album. Hell, if you don't live in a bloody cave you should have been anticipating the release. The album is good. The music itself is epic. Ye's sampling and production are unmatched of course. He has quite a few lines that will be repeated over the next year as he usually does. Either way, the question looming remains...will Kanye put out an album that will put the haters to rest? Will it make up for all the shit talking and VMA Mic stealing and what not? The answer, who gives a damn. This album goes hard. I will not speak too much about it. I'm not gonna be picky like pitchfork and talk about minor faults in comparison to past albums. I hate how different blogs do that - compare artists' current work to their past work. Of course you have to, to some extent. But every work of art is unique and should be evaluated accordingly. So who cares that Ye is still talkin about the Taylor Swift incident. STFU, sit down, and listen. It's a dope album. My only complaint is that every track was in the short film he released. I wish everything was a surprise when I heard the album. But oh well. Get out of here, and then go tell your friends that "Yeezy taught you well..."

Daft Punk - Tron Soundtrack

so if you didn't know...Daft Punk is doing the soundtrack for Tron. As an avid fan, I had to check it out before the movie came out. I am more than pleased. You should definitely check it out...I can assure you that you will not be disappointed. I eagerly anticipate that the movie will synchronize Daft Punk's innovative electronic style of music with orgasmic visuals on the big screen. If the movie is as good as the soundtrack, then Disney has done it again.

So ya...we've all got the Drake album whether we want to admit it or not. But why are some people ashamed to own it. It's because its a female influenced album. I aint mad at the dude though. He's made it, and seems that he will stop at nothing to make 'POPULAR' music. I just wished that Drake had held HIP-HOP a little closer to his heart. This is an R&B album...not a hip-hop album...which disappoints me. I know the ladies love to hear Drake's boring ass voice when he sings, but a lot of us don't. He shoulda came harder with the rhymes. The album is quite repetitive if you actually pay attention. He talks about the same ish, all damn day. "Ooh, I'm Drake...and my life changed so much since I got money." I'm just like..."nah son." But that's another story. As far as the music goes, it just seems like Drake could run circles around these other rap kids tryna make it, and take shots at some vets in the game, but I feel like he has settled and has become too comfortable with his current state and feels no need to impress us anymore. I keep the CD in my ride, and everyone who hasn't heard it always sees it and is like, "Ooh, you got that new Drake. Lemme hear that, I need to get that from you!" After hearing a couple songs, the reaction changes to more like, "nah son, you can hold on to that ish."
All in all, I'm a hip-hop fan. So this album is not for me. I loved So Far Gone, and all of Drake's previous work. I think he is truly talented, but I strongly believe that he's been hanging out with Wayne too much, and that his lifestyle will ultimately keep him from truly reaching his potential.
Oh yeah, final thought...J.Cole shits on Drake. Can't wait for his stuff to drop. J.Cole seems like he's still hungry, like he still has something to prove. Drake has lost that chip on his shoulder that he used to keep on his mixtapes. But only time will tell...

<a href="http://bias.bandcamp.com/track/stencil">Stencil by Bias</a>
So, about a year ago I started a band with a friend of mine named Tobias 'Bias' Harris called Good Mourning Vietnam. Unfortunately, due to the fact that i'm a lameass and am always either working, in school, or doing something that keeps us from doing music...'we' haven't made much music since...but he has kept grinding and making dope tracks. I knew big homie was dope from the start, but lately I have been blown away. Bias and his associate Glenn have been tearing up stages locally here in Georgia, and have recently taken their act up North. The feedback has been ridiculous. Everywhere they go all I hear about was how they put to shame any act coming before or after their performance. The latest track they have out is called 'Stencil' and is sick as all get out. Check this track and tell anyone who hasn't been a witness to this revolution. The chemistry that Bias and Glenn have on the mic is surely what we've all been waiting for. It's about time to say goodbye to all the whack southern rap that we've become comfortable with and get back to the roots and the soul of real hip hop. I am currently attempting to put together a live ensemble of musicians to perform live sets with Bias and Glenn upon their return...and am anticipating some amazing jam sessions. Good luck to the FarOut crew on their venture to show the world what they've been waiting for. The revolution is now...and it will not be televised...yet. Check the link and comment on how you feel about the track.

Just wanted to say that the last few days have been amazing. I have been inspired by my peers and by the artists that have been around me. Getting this internship has been one of the best things that could have ever happened. Big things are going down, moves being made, and I'm sure you all will hear, see, and witness the revolution that is at hand. Ms. Janelle Monae has two amazing tracks out, 'Tightrope ft. Big Boi' + 'Cold War'. The minds of Wondaland Art Society are constantly making new ways to blow your mind. The revolution will be televised. Stay tuned.

So this iPad nonsense. Wtf. Am i the online one that is disappointed. Sure its cool and fancy and sleek. But its pointless if you already have a laptop. It doesn't have a webcam on the front like we all anticipated. It doesn't support the Mac OS that we all love. It runs a simpler OS that apple is calling A4. Wireless service is also limited to Att, just like the iPhone. And it only holds 64 gb of data. So basically you're lugging around a 10"x10" iPod. No thanks.
